9-year-old chooses to sing opera, paralyzes judges with her unbelievable voice

When 9-year-old Amira Willighagen opened her mouth to sing on an episode of Holland’s Got Talent, the voice of a seasoned opera singer came out instead of the voice of an untrained child.

Amira’s version of “O Mio Babbino Caro,” a soprano aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi, completely stunned both the judges and the crowd earning her the coveted “Golden Ticket.”

The judges weren’t expecting much when she told them that she just searched for a song on YouTube and came across some opera songs.

“I just started singing them,” Aria told the judges.

“I am curious about how this is going to sound,” said one judge. “Do I need earplugs, or is it safe?”

Aria told him it was safe, then proceeded to completely blow everyone away.

All of the judges and audience members were completely stunned. Their jaws were basically dropped for her entire performance. And when she hit her high notes, the crowd roared with applause.

The inflections in her voice and way she could convey emotion through song is simply incredible.

“I almost don’t believe it,” said one of the judges. “It’s not normal.”

He throws his hands up in the air and just stands up in his seat trying to take in the talent of this little girl.

After her performance was over the judges asked if she was really 9-years-old. They just couldn’t believe how amazing she was.

“Amira, they say that old souls live on in people and when I hear you sing you sound like Maria Callas, who is unfortunately no longer with us,” one judge explained. “Your voice is so pure and so beautiful, I find it so special for a girl of your age to be able to do this. It is incredible.”

After learning that she hadn’t had a single lesson and taught herself, the judges gave her a one-way ticket, known as the “Golden Ticket,” to the final round.

This sent her running into the arms of her brother and father who were waiting backstage to congratulate her.

It’s likely that we’ll be seeing more of this talented young girl who has big dreams. Two of them in fact, to be a singer when she grows up or an Olympic athlete. With guts and goals like that, we’re sure she’ll make it.
