In a recent interview, Barbara Streisand opened up about the devastating loss of her beloved dog, Samantha. The singer and her pup have been inseparable for 14 years, and Sammie always felt like part of the family, as Barbara said in an interview with The Independent in 2013: “She’s like the daughter I never hand”.

Back in October 2016, Barbara shared with her fans that Samantha is facing health issues asking them to pray for her. Sadly, a few months later, in May 2017 Samantha passed away. Barbara mourned her death with a heartfelt tribute and shared a picture of herself holding her beloved puppy with the caption: “Jason took this pic of me holding Sammie on Mother’s Day. This is the last time my picture was taken with my beloved girl Samantha. May she rest in peace. We cherish every moment of the 14 years we had with her. May 2003 – May 2017.”

“She was always with me; the last 14 years she went everywhere I went, the legendary singer, 75, told the Associated Press in an interview published on Monday, November 20. “She was at every performance. It was like losing a child. It was kind of awful.”

In August this year, the Streisand family welcomed a new pet to their home, Miss Fanny: ” A distant cousin to my beloved Sammie,” Barbara said.
