Boy Sees K-9 Officer Without a Bulletproof Vest, So He Raises $80K to Ensure He, Others Will Have One

Meet Brady, a third grader from Strongsville, Ohio who’s a dog lover and an aspiring police officer. He noticed that K-9 officers don’t all have ballistic vests (bulletproof vests) while on duty. While Brady is just 9 years old, he called attention to this vital issue within his local police department – and later police departments across the nation.
It turns out ballistic vests aren’t a mandatory part of tactical gear for K-9 officers and are self-funded. The ballistic vests for K-9 officers are reportedly up to $1,200 a piece! So, these brave beautiful animals that also serve and protect, fight crime and solve important cases don’t always have the same level of protection as their human partners. That is a crime in of itself!
That’s why this determined 9-year-old decided to create Brady’s K-9 Fund. Through this incredibly inspiring fund, he has raised $80,000 for K-9 officers’ ballistic vests! Thus far, 78 ballistic vests have been donated – and counting!
Brady’s K-9 Fund was established in 2018 after Brady was watching “Live PD” on television when he saw a K-9 officer shown without bulletproof protective vest. If you would like to donate to Brady’s K-9 Fund, please visit his GoFundMe page.
