Desperate Dog Stuck in Tar Almost Gave Up, But His Bark for Help Saved His Life

Many of us have fond memories of the show, “Lassie” based on a lovable and intelligent collie, who always saved the day with his bark that would alert Timmy and others to help someone in danger. Well, one poor pup in Suwalki, Poland was the one who needed rescuing. Yet in his case, it would be his bark that would save his own life.
The dog in distress became trapped in a large puddle of tar, which had been dumped illegally by someone who obviously didn’t care about pets, wildlife or the earth in general. It was assumed that the poor fella must have been trying to keep warm on a cold night and mistakenly laid down in the warm tar. That’s when he became stuck and the panic set in.
Somehow the desperate dog managed to keep barking for help and thankfully several workers in the area decided to investigate. Unable to remove the dog from the tar, so they called a local animal shelter, Fundacja Zwierzęta Niczyje, which translates as Nobody’s Animal Foundation. Joanna Godlewska, a rescuer with the foundation, was there in a flash.
Godlewska was then joined by a group of local firefighters. At last, they were able to free the dog with the help of scissors to cut his fur and cooking oil to loosen him from the tar’s tight hold. While the poor pup had almost given up, his rescuers could see a glimmer of hope in his eyes. The clinic staff named him Farcik and he was checked by a veterinarian and is recovering and will soon be ready to find a forever home.
