‘Diaper Duty Daddies Take a Load Off!’ Pampers Is Installing 5,000 Changing Tables in Men’s Bathrooms!

In a huge diaper duty victory for hands-on daddies, Pampers has announced that they will be teaming up with Koala Kare, a changing table company, to install 5,000 changing tables in men’s rooms by the year 2021! Daddies, who have faced inequality by not having the accessibility that Mommies do to change their baby, are rejoicing – especially one Florida Dad of three, Donte Palmer who spearheaded this movement.

Last year, Palmer posted an eye-opening picture of himself squatting while changing his son’s diaper in a restaurant’s restroom, which went viral. “What’s the deal with not having changing tables in men’s bathroom as if we don’t exist!! #FLM #fatherslivesmatter clearly we do this often because look how comfortable my son is,” he wrote in his Instagram caption. “It’s routine to him!!!! Let’s fix this problem!” He also created his own hashtag #squatforchange, which has been embraced by fellow dads facing the same issue.

Pampers and Koala Kare will zero-in on “high-need locations” for the newly-installed changing tables. They reportedly hope to focus on “parks and recreation centers, community centers and libraries in cities such as Cincinnati, Dallas, Philadelphia, Detroit, and many others across the U.S. and Canada.” The first 500 locations have already been chosen. Yay dads!

“We know that dads want to be able to bond with their children by taking them out and about, and that means the inevitable diaper-duty no matter where they are,” explained Andre Schulten, vice president, and general manager baby Care North America, Procter & Gamble. “In many instances today, instead of it being an easy, straightforward task it’s a moment that causes angst because the facilities needed are not always available.”
