Babies move around inside their mother’s womb quite a lot, and a lot of parents experience this. However, their movements inside mom’s tummy can sometimes make their umbilical cords to tangle or form a knot. Some of these knots are pretty loose and does no harm to the baby. But sometimes, there will be instances where the knot is tight — and that is something life-threatening to the baby.
Just recently, Reddit user azathothfrog posted a picture of his child’s umbilical tied in a tight-looking knot. He wrote that the doctor told him to hurry up and take a picture shortly after delivery because his baby was a miracle.
We all know that the umbilical cord is a crucial lifeline between baby and mother. It contains arteries and a vein that transport nutrients and oxygen from a mom to her baby. When instances like this happen where a baby’s umbilical cord is tied in a tight knot, the child’s development can be impeded, or worse, it can lead to the baby’s death.
It is very important to keep track how active your baby moves inside a mom’s tummy. If you notice less than eight movements an hour for multiple hours or your baby’s movements have dramatically decreased you should call your doctor. Always remember that it is always safe to be cautious when it comes to the life of your child. Anything can happen that may lead to life-threatening situations.
