Mom Takes Terminally Ill Son To See Santa And Finds Her Car Vandalised For Parking In A Handicapped Spot

Seven-years-old Garrett Coyne suffers from a rare neurological condition called Batten disease. He is blind and losing his motor skills to a terminal illness. His mother, Nancy Coyne, tries to make his life as normal as possible given his condition, but mostly wants to create many happy memories for her family.
This year’s their annual visit to see Santa Claus at the King of Prussia Mall left her feeling hurt and bitter. When the family walked to the mall’s disabled parking area outside Nordstrom, Nancy was stunned to find a message scribbled in red lipstick on her car window. It read, ‘UR Not Handicap’.
“The mall is great. The Santa is wonderful. He sits down and really talks to the children,” Nancy told FOX 29. “I can’t believe someone could be so obnoxious and ignorant and rude about a situation that I struggle with daily.” – she added.
The family’s anger has turned into sadness for the ignorance many people are faced with daily. “It just made me really question society to be honest. Like OK, I guess people don’t understand. People don’t care,” Nancy said.
“I just want the person to realize what they did was wrong and to learn from it and not to it again,” dad, Joe Coyne, told FOX 29.
A spokesperson for King of Prussia Mall says they are just as offended this happened. They are helping the Upper Merion police with their investigation.
