Bride Had A Special Message For Her New Stepson In Her Wedding Vows

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Emily Leehan tied the knot with Joshua Newville – and it wasn’t just the bride’s heartfelt vows that had everyone going, but the reaction of her four-year-old stepson, Gage, to her loving words.
The bride, a senior airman in the US Air Force, delivered two sets of vows on her big day, one to husband Joshua, and another to his four-year-old son Gage.
“I want you to be safe and to try your hardest and to be a good person,” Emily told her stepson.
“I know that you and I will butt heads, but I hope that with all my heart, that as you become a grown man, you will understand my methods and realize that I have only done what is best for you and that I love you.”
As the bride addressed her young stepson, tears welled in the boy’s eyes – and indeed everyone else’s!
Dapper page boy Gage couldn’t contain his tears for any longer and immediately ran to his stepmother for a hug.
“The last thing that I hope you learn that you are a very special boy,” the bride continued. “You are so extremely smart, handsome and kind to others. You have helped make me into the woman that I am today. I may not have given you the gift of life but life surely gave me the gift of you.”
Leehan told HuffPost her stepson’s reaction “meant everything” to her.
“There were so many nerves leading up to this moment,” she said, “which is why my immediate reaction was giggling. If I didn’t giggle I probably would have sobbed and not been able to finish.”
“I wanted to make sure he heard everything I had to say and that he knows how much I love him.”
