11-Year-Old Boy Turns Birthday Party Into Police ‘Thank-You Party’

The police don’t always get a great wrap in the media. In fact, this noble profession seems to have been sullied by the press and sadly that means that the good guys don’t always get the credit they deserve.

A young boy in Michigan felt that the ‘boys in blue’ needed a friendly pick me up. So he opted to give them a little recognition in their honour.

11-year-old Jeremie Bordua Jr. from Lansing, Michigan wanted to show the police department exactly how much he appreciates their efforts.

He wanted to be a policeman when he grew up but with the soiled reputation of the force on television and so he asked his mother, Marcella “Mom, the cops are still the good guys right?”

“Yep… There are some police officers and then there’s still the good ones that are trying to protect themselves.”

Jeremie still didn’t like the idea of the good being lumped in with the bad so he decided to perform an incredibly selfless act to rectify their reputations.

He told his mum that for his next birthday, he wanted to throw the police a “Thank You” party for their efforts to show that they still matter to him.

Jeremie said he wanted this instead of a party and instead of presents he tried to raise money for the community funds with bake sales and selling cookies.

Shocked by his act of kindness, his mother agreed, both expecting to only a small handful of guests and police officers.

But they were stunned to find that over 100 officers showed up. And not just from Lansing, but from all over the state of Michigan. Deputy James Rebel even drove in from Georgia.

He was in such awe of this boy’s passion and support to his fellow civil servants.

In fact, all the police officers were stunned by how humble this young boy is. The event even brought one officer who flew in from Los Angeles to tears.

As Jeremie had given up his presents and party to make this event happen, the Lansing Police Department believed that this kind hearted human deserves a present from them.

So they decided to make him an honourary member of their department, complete with a real officer uniform and police hat and badge.

Over 250 guests and police officers were at the event, all of them blown away with gratitude for this incredible child.
