6-Year-Old Girl Hid Messages For Her Family Throughout The House, Only To Be Found When She Died

Right before their daughter’s sixth birthday, they found out that she had brain cancer and it was completely inoperable. Her doctor’s said that she had only nine months left to live.
The family attempted to keep young Elena from finding out her unfortunate fate, but despite their efforts, the smart young girl was all-too wise. As she went through treatment, she became aware that she would soon be going to heaven.
Elena had always been an extremely intelligent, creative child, and she expressed her wisdom through her art and writing at such a young age. Throughout the months that she battled her cancer, she was secretly doing something amazing that would go on to stun her family even after her death.
Little did her parents know, she began to leave notes throughout their Ohio home so that her family would have something from her after she passed. They believe she did it to help them grieve and cope with her untimely death. She had doodled and drawn amazing colorful letters on various types of paper, from simple post-it notes to A4 paper, and hid them in books, cabinets, drawers, and more. Some of the touching notes simply read, “I love you,” and others were more detailed and contained inspirational messages. Almost all of them contained a beautiful symbol she held dear: a heart.
She even hid notes for her young sister Gracie to have when she began kindergarten.
Elena Desserich sadly passed away in 2007, and only days later, members of her family started discovering the notes sprinkled throughout their home. They decided that they would do something wonderful with them.
