8-Year-Old Boy Opens His Own Bakery In Hope Of Buying His Mother A House

Jalen Bailey isn’t exactly your average 8-year-old. In addition to performing chores around the house and completing his homework on time, the little boy also runs his very own business! What’s the motivation behind his ambition, you may ask? The loving son dreams of buying his hard-working single mother a place to call her own.

Whipping up delicious desserts and sweet treats, Jalen hopes to pay it forward. Owning and operating Jalen’s Bakery, he’s definitely on the right track!

The 8-year-old and his mother, Sharhonda Mahan, share an apartment in the beautiful Fresno, California. Funnily enough, their home also acts as Jalen’s home office/professional kitchen.

Crafting the perfect combination of crunchy and sweet, the 8-year-old bakes peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, and chocolate chip cookies.

His hearty and delicious desserts, including some pretty scrumptious cupcakes, go out for local delivery on a pretty regular basis.

Getting a ‘thumbs up’ from the Fresno health department, Jalen was officially open for business!

The ambitious grade-schooler finally found a way to accomplish his lifelong dream, financing a home for his beloved mom.

The fact he’s popping out few loaves of creamy banana bread in the meantime doesn’t exactly hurt either.

Jalen’s story is actually a case of ‘like mother like son. His mother has been a proud business owner since the tender age of 18 and is happily passing on her secrets to success.

Sharhonda chose to home-school her son, highlighting the importance of good business skills, professional management, and the concepts of entrepreneurship along the way.

After setting aside funds to purchase a much needed Kitchen-Aid mixer, Jalen brought his mom to tears with a difference announcement.

Hearing her son’s plans to purchase a home in her name, Sharhonda couldn’t help but get a little teary-eyed.

“It was a little overwhelming because it was something I couldn’t do for him,” she explained.

However, Jalen has a slightly different take on things. To the hard-working 8-year-old, a new home would only strengthen their unique and special bond.

“ … me and my mommy could make more memories in the kitchen…it could be a bigger kitchen … I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in,” Jalen commented on his future.

Relaying some of his other forthcoming plans, the boy explains a puppy and a college education are also on the list.

It’s pretty clear the hard-working son couldn’t be any happier to be living his wildest dreams. According to Jalen, it’s all thanks to his incredible mom.

“My mommy is the best mom on the planet,” he said. “She’s really great.”
