After 82 Years of Marriage, Husband, 103 and Wife, 100 Share ‘Secret’ to Marital Bliss

They say “happy wife, happy life” is the secret to a successful marriage but it should work both ways where both partners feel equally fulfilled, supported and loved unconditionally. D.W. Williams, 103, and his beloved wife Willie Williams, 100, who celebrated their birthdays within a week of each other, have been married for 82 years and seem to have it all figured out.
So, what is their secret to longevity when it comes to love, which is also associated with one’s physical and mental health? The North Carolina couple suggests that there isn’t a big secret or mystery to want to be by each other’s side for decades. According to Willie, she says “just be nice to each other” with a huge smile.
While Willie’s advice might seem rather simple, it’s a lot harder than one thinks. Yet they are living proof. Both Willie and D.W. have been through it all – they have lived through wars, the Depression, and the Civil Rights era, and yet they persevere and grow together and they still hold hands while doing it!
The adorable pair were guests of honor at a celebration held by a north Charlotte church honoring their 82nd wedding anniversary and birthdays. They sang hymns and laughed a lot with friends and family. “To see them at this age and still doing well, it’s just a blessing to have them here,” said their granddaughter, BJ Williams.
