Growing old has its ups and downs. On the one hand, you get the perspective on life that you never could have imagined when you were younger. You are wiser than ever, and you know what is important in life.

On the other hand, it can become more difficult to do certain things as your body ages. Even just walking around can become strained, and even dangerous. Breaking bones becomes much more likely, too, but you can’t let that stop you from living your best life.

When Dorothy Stockton was 83 years old, she broke her hip. Doctors told her that she would never dance again. This broke her sweet heart, because she was a dancer when she was younger and it was one of the things that brought her the most joy in life.

But when you want something enough, you can accomplish just about anything.

Two years later, at the age of 85, Dorothy is up on her feet, dancing, and having a grand old time. As soon as she hears a banjo playing, she gets up to the front of the room, kicks off her shoes, and gets to steppin’!

I hope that when I’m 85 I still have as much pep and go-get-’em as Dorothy does. It just goes to show you how far a positive attitude and a lighthearted spirit can take you.

Did Dorothy’s moves put a smile on your face? She’s such a sweetheart, and she deserves all of the online attention she’s getting for her dance moves.
