A recently posted video has got the internet going crazy over just how cute it is. As shared by Wimp, this engrossing video of a swimming race between five miniature dachshunds has left viewers in stitches. Dachshunds are an undeniably growing in popularity as a suitable breed of dogs and this video is a perfect example of just how adorable and energetic these sweet dogs can be.

The video shows a big family having a nice relaxing day around the pool before they decide it’s time to put their doxies to the test to see whose dog was the best swimmer. After each puppy is introduced, with adorable cute names such as Penny, Valerie, Rupert, Zeus and Snoop, and their odds are drawn up, the Dachshund Olympics begin.

While most of the puppies seemed eager to please their owners, it was Valerie who gives a hilarious, disinterested look to the camera and, as viewers might guess, her odds in the race are not very high.

As each Dachshund is gently lowered into the water, it is clear there is a definite winner from the beginning. Snoop, who can be seen air paddling from the very beginning of the video, speeds ahead of the rest of the pack and swoops in on his squeaky toy prize with next to no effort.

Rupert, who supposedly prefers a “wet track,” comes in at a close second, followed by Penny and Zeus. Despite the vivid encouragement from her owner, Valerie managed to get lost on the ‘track’, causing a tense moment and many laughs as each owner cackles as the nonchalant dog fulfills the pre-race predictions.

While there was a clear winner in this highly competitive race, all the dachshunds received a special treat after their tiring race. The video is a great example of the growing popularity dogs in general as a pet, showcasing their cuteness, intelligence and incredible loyalty.
