Glen Campbell’s last song turns out to be one of his most personal. The popular singer, whose hits include “Rhinestone Cowboy”, wrote “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” in 2013, two years after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

His lyrics reveal all of the emotions and sadness that came along with his awareness of what the disease would take away from him.
The lyrics include: “I’m still here, but yet I’m gone/I don’t play guitar or sing my songs/They never defined who I am/The man that loves you ’til the end.”

Although Glen never got to play the song live because of the disease’s profession, his son Shannon Campbell took up the mantle and recorded it as a tribute to his father.

It’s a beautiful, emotional recording that has touched Glen’s fans around the world.
