Hearts Melt as 9-Year-Old ‘Couple’ Says Goodbye

A pair of nine-year-olds are warming hearts across the country after their tearful goodbye was shared online.

Merce and Mylee have known each other since they were just two years old, having met in a dance class run by Merce’s grandmother in Gonzales, Louisiana. They have been practically inseparable ever since.

In fact, Merce’s father, Glen Meynardie, explained to Yahoo: ‘They have always said they were boyfriend and girlfriend for as long as I can remember.’

But the kids’ adorable romance was sadly to be cut short, after Merce’s father secured a new job in California, meaning the family would be moving away.

‘When Mylee found out we were moving, she said, “My life is over. I’m supposed to marry Merce. How am I going to marry him if he is in California?”‘ Glen explained.

So, when it came to the last goodbye before Merce left town, things became incredibly emotional between the two.

Sporting adorable matching outfits from their hip hop dance class, the two nine-year-olds were photographed embracing, with poor Mylee wiping away her tears.

The poignant goodbye happened right after the two had their final dance recital together.
Mylee’s older sister Haylie later shared the images on Twitter, where they proved to be a massive hit.

‘My little sister’s boyfriend is moving and their goodbyes were the saddest thing ever,’ she wrote on the social media site.

In just three days, the tweet has been shared more than 50,000 times and gained over 170,000 likes.

CLARIFICATION: The two children are not actually dating each other.
