After this young man walked off stage, his honest, emotional performance left the judges highly impressed. Harry Gardner has a special relationship with his grandmother that has been slipping away recently. Her increasing Alzheimer’s symptoms have made it so that she can no longer recognize his face. But Harry had a message to give to her, even if she can’t fully understand it. And it’s so heartwarming that there were many tears in the room.

Before the audition, Harry anticipated it being one of his most difficult performances because of how closely he relates with this particular song. And he was right. The emotion that he conveys through his voice and the expression on his face reveals why the cherished memories with his grandma are so bittersweet. But his realization of the difficulty of sharing that emotion didn’t stop him. For being only 16 years old, he handles it like a champ.

And Britiain’s Got Talent host Amanda Holden was exactly right when she said Harry’s grandmother would have been so proud. Harry’s hope in getting on stage was that people would be able to relate to the message. “If people can relate to that, I think it’s really cool,” Harry reported after the audition. He also reported having more original songs that are yet unpublished. After this audition, it is likely that they won’t be unknown for long.
