Billy Ray Harris, a 55-year-old homeless man that resides under a bridge in Kansas City. As with most homeless people, he has a cup that he keeps out in front of him so passersby can throw spare change his way. One day, a passing woman left behind a whole lot more.

Sarah Darling accidentally tossed her diamond ring in the cup, and she didn’t realize it until some time later. She frantically retraced her steps until she happened upon Harris again, and she was absolutely delighted when he returned it to her. He acknowledged that he considered selling it, but he ultimately decided to hold onto it in hopes that she would return and retrieve it.
