Actor Robert Guillaume, famous for voicing Rafiki in Disney’s film ‘The Lion King’, has passed away.

Mr. Guillaume’s most well-known character was Benson DuBois, who began as a caustic butler on the sitcom “Soap,” which ran from 1977 to 1981, and later worked for, and eventually campaigned against, the governor of an unspecified state on the spinoff “Benson” (1979-86).

Guillaume died aged 89, after battling prostate cancer for the past 25 years. It has been reported that he passed away on Tuesday 24 October,  at his home in Los Angeles with his wife, Donna by his side.

“He kinda went the way everyone wishes they could, surrounded by love and in his sleep,” Donna Guillaume said.

The father of four spent quality time with his kids in the final weeks of his life.

Our prayers and deepest condolences go to his bereaved family and friends.
