When Mike Jivanjee, who lives on Lake Oswego in Oregon went out for a boat ride one day, it was leisure as usual. He was enjoying the fresh air and wind in his hair, then suddenly he spotted an abandoned gosling that would forever change his life for the better.

That fateful day, Jivanjee made a forever friend in Kyle, the baby goose. “One of my friends noticed her drowning in the water, like almost desperate, alone,” he explained. “At any minute, she would have been run over by a boat.” He worried that she might die if no one really took her under their wing, so he welcomed her under his.

The animal lover provided for Kyle and allowed her to have freedom on the lake while he took care of her. “I just figured I would keep it alive long enough to be an adult and to fend for itself.” Yet their bond became profound. When it came time for Kyle to move on, she wouldn’t leave Jivanjee. She would fly to him while he was boating, taking walks outside, and she even met him in the middle of town!

In a turn of events, Kyle found a boyfriend named Eugene and they now have a gosling of their own. Unfortunately, Kyle can be a ‘flighty’ mom – maybe it’s genetic. She often leaves her tiny gosling in the water. Jivanjee didn’t want her offspring to end up just like her, so now history is repeating itself. Jivanjee is helping to raise Kyle’s gosling. Watch this fascinating story unfold of a loving man and a lovable-yet-stubborn goose…
