Meet The Sweet Dog Who Now Lives His Life As A Monk

This is the touching story of Friar Bigotón, or Friar Mustache as he’s affectionately known. The stray pup was adopted by the St Francis Monastery in Cochabamba, Bolivia and now lives a very lovely life.
This particular monastery was named after the patron saint of animals and has done their best to represent. The monks were more than happy to adopt the pup from the streets and Friar Bigotón seems equally happy with the situation.
What has brought this story to the attention of the masses is the fact that Friar Bigotón dons a habit, just like his fellow monks. This little guy is now a social star.

The adoption was initiated by a local animal rescue program, much to this little guy’s delight.
“His life is all about playing and running,” fellow friar Jorge Fernandez explained.
“Here, all of the brothers love him very much. He is a creature of God.”
Friar Bigotón is just another member of the monastery. And he takes his duties very seriously…
“Brother [Bigotón] preaching to the fish,” posted the brothers.
The social hype aims at inspiring other monasteries to also help pets in need.
“If only all the churches [would] adopt a dog… we are sure that the parishioners would follow the example.”
