Mom Waits 2 Weeks To Hold 12 Ounces Preemie Daughter For The First Time And Brings Everyone To Tears

Angela and Michael Bakker always wanted to build a family and raise happy, healthy kids. They were thrilled when they found out they are expecting a baby girl and like most parents-to-be dreamed of the all the happy days ahead of them.
It all seemed normal and well until unexpectedly, at 25 weeks gestation, Angela gave birth to their precious daughter. Baby Naomi Joy was 15 weeks premature and weighed less than one pound, her chance of survival was very slim.
Luckily, the caring staff at the Renown Regional Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit did everything they possibly could to keep Naomi growing in a safe environment – and after two longs weeks, Angela and Michael were finally allowed to hold their beautiful girl.
Angela and Michael were encouraged to practise skin-to-skin with Naomi, in hope to aid her development. This method is also known as the “kangaroo care” and has proved invaluable for many premature babies.
Thankfully, Angela and Michael were able to hold their baby girl every single one of the 128 more days she was in the hospital. Thanks to the constant care of the NICU staff and her parents’ positivity, Naomi is now a healthy, happy little girl.
