Mom’s Had A Beehive Hairdo Since 1965, Gets A Makeover And Undergoes A Stunning Transformation

Joan Irvine gets up at 5:30 a.m. every Wednesday morning. She spends the next four hours doing her signature hairstyle.

With a brush, rollers, and a lot of hairpins, Joan gets her hair ready for the week in a beehive she’s been wearing since the 1960s. Joan never undoes her hair and isn’t seen without it. When she goes swimming she swims on the surface, never letting a drop of water touch her locks.

Now, there’s two things you’ll notice about Joan’s beehive: It is immaculately done and, well, she looks pretty darn great with it.

However, what Joan’s daughters Cindy and Christine notice is that it makes her look a bit older than her age. The beehive would have you think she’s the girls’ grandmother instead of her mother — a stunning grandmother, but still much older than Joan really is.

In 2002, Cindy and Christine wanted to give her mother a modern update. They wrote into Oprah’s show and begged for a makeover. You’re not going to believe the results… They’re about as shocking as this “rock and roll” couple’s makeover.

“Your mom now looks like your sister,” the stylist comments. She couldn’t have been more right.
