In the Russian village of Ust-Dolyssy, a group of road workers were doing their jobs on a cold snowy afternoon. Unbeknownst to them, they were about to do a lot more than just pave the streets that day.
The men were beside a frozen pond when they thought that something looked out of place. They spotted a dark lump bobbing in the middle of the icy body of water.

What could it have been?

That was the moment when the men realized that the blob was a dog who was struggling to stay afloat in the frozen waters. He was barking for help when the road workers took action.

In the video posted on December 12, 2016, the three men set out into the pond in a small boat. They used the boat’s oars to crack through the solid sheet of ice that separated them from the dog, who desperately needed their help.

The road workers chopped through the ice water and slowly approached the troubled young dog, named Chernish. He was close, but not yet in reach. Afraid that he would drown, the men had to work faster.

Finally, the workers were able to call Chernish over to the boat. As the pup paddled over, one of the brave men grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up onto the small boat. The rescue was a victory for the road workers and a blessing for Chernish.

Want to hear something even more amazing than the rescue itself? According to Daily Mail, Chernish, who was a stray at the time of the incident, has since been adopted and is now thriving in the arms of his new owner.

Please SHARE this spectacular dog rescue if you would do the same thing these road workers did to save a precious life!
