Barbara Wansor and Jennifer Conner, are the two veterinary technicians who saw the Kent animal shelter covered in thick black smoke and without hesitation ran in to rescue the 15 kenneled dogs, who had no way to escape. Thanks to their brave and prompt actions all 15 dogs survived the fire without major consequences. Firefighters discovered that the cause for the incident is a faulty oil burner. The shelter is operation as normal, but they are still relying on donations to replace all of the damaged equipment, toys and blankets.
