State Police Officer Breaks Down In Tears After An Emotional DWI Stop

State Police Officer Toby Lafave is used to DWI (driving while intoxicated) stops. He is known for his record breaking stops, but one particular night, he was overwhelmed with emotions and broke down in tears.

After pulling over a Cadillac for speeding, he had to arrest the intoxicated driver. Prior to the arrest he had spotted a young child, unbuckled in the front seat. That clearly triggered the officer.

After the arrest, he opened the trunk of the car and discover strollers, at that point he couldn’t hold back the tears.

He was speaking with someone on the phone about picking up the little girl when he got choked up.

“Hey baby, I’ll get it, I’ll get it.,” he said to the little girl, as she tried to close the trunk of the car.

He walked back over to the car and said to another officer, “That makes my heart hurt.”

He was moved to tears by the gravity of that moment, and before walking back to his patrol car, he said, “God, it breaks my heart.”
