Teen Wanted Prom Pictures By Her Father’s Grave, But Stops In Her Tracks When She Arrives

Sierra Bradway was just 13 years old when her father, Officer Rod Lee Bradway, passed away in the line of duty. The veteran officer was responding to a disturbance call when he heard someone inside an apartment yelling for help.
Officer Bradway kicked down the door and was overtaken by a man who was holding the tenants at gunpoint for more than three hours. Unfortunately, Officer Bradway passed away on the scene and his wife and two children were left behind.
In the four years since that day, Sierra has kept in touch with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers who served alongside her father. But when prom rolled around, she had no idea that they would all be standing next to her side!
Sierra’s date, a young man named Brock Spayd, spoke to his mother about how much Sierra missed her dad and they decided to set up the best surprise imaginable…
While Sierra planned on a quick prom photoshoot at her father’s gravesite, Brock’s mother (a captain for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office) reached out to other officers in the department and asked them for a big favor.
When the young couple arrived at the Crown Hill Cemetery, they were welcomed by two magnificent police horses. The officers on horseback guided Sierra to her father’s grave where a large crowd of officers were waiting. The small photoshoot turned into a memory Sierra will never forget!
The Indianapolis Police Department’s emotional Facebook video shared just how special this moment was for everyone involved.
“There were a lot of laughs, some tears, but most importantly, there was love. Sierra, we know your father is smiling from heaven. Know that your Blue Line Family will always be here for you.”
Whenever Sierra is feeling down about her father, she can look at these images and smile!
