Thanks To Kindhearted Strangers Boy With Rare Skin Condition Has A Chance At A Better Life

14-year-old John Hudson Dilgen has a rare genetic disorder called epidermolysis bullosa (EB), due to which his body is covered in blisters all over, including areas around his eyes and mouth, and into his esophagus.
Heartbroken, his mother Julie Dilgen has to see her son in pain. She says it’s the “worst disease you’ve never heard of.”
“It’s been more and more difficult over the years,” Julie said. “He is bandaged pretty much from head to toe. His mobility is significantly impaired and he’s on pain medication as a result.”
Desperate to help her soon, Julie has been doing research and getting in touch with other families, who suffer from the same condition. Recently, she came across a “Microsilk Tub”, which is believed to significantly help his condition. Unfortunately, the were unable to afford the price.
In an attempt to help her son, Julie set up a go fund me page, and to her amazement, strangers raised over 100,000 in just under a week. The money would be used for a Microsilk Tub, as well some much needed home renovations.
“It won’t cure him of his EB, but it will improve his quality of life,” Julie said. “It’s something at home that will help him in a tangible way.”
As his story took over social media, Julie received more good news. John will be participating in clinical trials that may help the condition, an option that didn’t exist when he was born.
“We finally have some hope on the horizon,” she said.
