This Mama Pig Was On The Brink Of Death — Until Her Own Piglets Saved Her

When Emma arrived at the Apricot Lane Farms, she was a lot skinnier than any other pigs there – that’s despite being pregnant. She looked sick and the farmers who took her in were told that they would be lucky if Emma gave birth to six healthy piglets.

Still, farmer John Chester decided he would give Emma all the resources she needed to give birth and recover. When the big day came, Emma surprised everyone and gave birth to no more and no less than 13 little piglets, and they were all healthy.

Emma, however, found herself having to fight for her survival. The intense labor really took a toll on her already weakened body. But Emma was now a mother, and like any other mother out there, she knew she needed to find the strength to fight for her babies.

She wasn’t about to give up on life, not when her babies needed her the most.
John’s short film entitled ‘Saving Emma’ depicts Emma’s story and shows how one sow’s motherhood led to an unforeseen miracle.
