On January 2, 2017, sisters Trisha Baker and Debbie Hartman were flying towards North Carolina from the state of Florida to pay a visit to their sick father in the hospital…

They had known that their father wouldn’t be alive for much longer before going to visit and right before taking off, Trisha received a text message telling her that their father could pass away within a few hours. She then decided to go and find her sister who was seated somewhere else to see whether or not she had received a similar text. When she arrived at Debbie’s seat and broke the bad news to her, a flight attendant instructed Trisha to go back to the seat.

After asking the flight attendant if she would be able to sit next to her sister so that they could be together, telling the stewardess, “We just got word that my dad’s dying.”

Debbie then had an anxiety attack while her sister continued to argue with the attendant, saying she could be more understanding. The problem became an even bigger issue and only escalated from that point.

Debbie later said that Trisha had said to the stewardess, “You’re being very rude. My father is dying, and I’m comforting her.”

The attendant however, continued to be rude and inconsiderate, even telling the sisters that they should wait until they were off of the airplane to deal with their personal issues.

The flight attendant then later went and contacted the caption to inform them of the situation. The captain then decided to turn the plane and head back to the terminal, where security was waiting and escorted the sisters off the plane.

Even other passengers couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed. “That was the most inhumane, deplorable thing I’ve ever seen any human being do,” said one witness on YouTube.

They never made it to their father who unfortunately passed away hours later. Of course, both sisters were extremely mad at the airlines as they could have been able to say goodbye, had they not been kicked out of the plane by security.

“This is not humane. One hundred thousand percent I blame them. They were the gate between keeping me from my father to say goodbye,” Debbie said to News 6.

There is an upside to the story however, in the form of all the love that both the sisters received. With many people sending them condolences and being shocked in how they were treated by the airline.

The airline responded to the situation by giving a statement saying: “We rely on our crew members to provide and oversee a safe environment for every passenger, on every flight. We expect that authority to be exercised both judiciously and consistently, with empathy and with good judgment. We take this customer feedback seriously and are in the process of conducting an investigation into what occurred.”
