War Hero Dog Enjoys Retirement After Receiving The Highest Medal Of Honor

Lucca is the German shepherd, who spent 6 years of her life with the U.S. Marine Corps, protecting her fellow military troops. She was ‘deployed’ to Iraq and Afghanistan. She lost her leg and suffered serious burns after a homemade bomb detonated underneath her in Afghanistan. Lucca survived the tragic accident and stood by her fellow humans. After more than 400 successful missions Lucca has finally retried and enjoys a peaceful life in California. She is also the first dog to be awarded with the PDSA Dickin Medal — it’s the highest honor in the world, an animal who serves in the military can receive.
