Woman Buys Thief Groceries After He Steals Her Wallet

Jessica Eaves was in the midst of her grocery shopping when a man snatched her wallet from her. She spotted the man an aisle over whom she believed to be the culprit, but she didn’t immediately get a hold of security or call the police. She calmly approached the man and gave him an ultimatum.

The Oklahoma mother told The Huffington Post that as she walked over to the man, a relevant Bible verse came to mind. “As I saw him, a scripture came to me from Luke, which basically says, ‘If someone should take your cloak, you should give them your shirt as well,'” she told the newspaper.

So Eaves did just that. She told the man that if he gave her back the wallet, she would forgive him and buy his groceries for him. If not, she’d get the law involved.

Eaves told The Huffington Post that the unnamed man gave back the wallet immediately. He cried as they made their way to the checkout. Eaves is a believer that “no one sin is greater than another,” and for that reason, she readily forgave the man who robbed her.

When the busy Oklahoma mother is not tending to her four children, she helps run an outreach program at the First Christian Church in Guthrie.
