World’s First Orangutan Birth Captured Live On Camera, Watch When She Shows Baby To The Keeper

Orangutans share many similarities to humans and pregnancy is just one of them. Even though they only give birth every 7-8 years, their gestation is approximately 9 months and the birthing process is identical to ours. As soon as their baby arrives, they clean off the fluid and make sure they’re breathing properly. They tend to the umbilical cord and nuzzle them, too.

Conservationists from the Durrell Wildlife Conservative Trust set up a hidden camera and were able to capture her magnificent birth on film, the first ever in the world. The moment Mama was done giving birth, she licked her new baby clean and rushed over to the humans to show them her new bundle of joy.

Her joy and pride will melt your hearts, and the baby, just like a human baby latches on and holds to its safe place – mom’s cuddle.
